Golfing while the country crumbles

Obama left D.C. Friday to spend the weekend at Camp David. This “weekend” with the family, ended Sunday morning, bright and early, so Obama could return and play golf.

Having obviously had enough of the solitude of Camp David, where he and the family were making a rare weekend sojourn, the president choppered early this morning directly to Andrews and headed straight to the Air Force base golf course. Not clear whether Michelle in the girls are still at Camp David or if they’ve returned to the White House.

The Morning Jolt point us to polipundit for this remark:

I guess that I relate too much to my experiences in 2 greenfield startups of manufacturing businesses and 5 turn-arounds of declining companies or groups. I know how I reacted to the pressures of businesses in crisis and how I worked for hours and days on end to make those events successful. I know that it took complete dedication, focus and personal sacrifice to make it work…seems that I don’t remember too many golf breaks (actually none) until the job was done.
Given the situation that this country is in, to see any of our elected officials on the golf course, Republican or Democrat, indicates to me a level of seriousness and dedication that is significantly less than I would give if it was me in their golf shoes.

Not to mention that Obama has two young children. Who do NOT accompany him on the golf course. And a wife. Who does NOT accompany him to the golf course.

    Be honest.

You wouldn’t bring her to the golf course either.

  2. Car in Says:

My husband is a busy man, and there is no way he’d take up golfing on the weekends unless I joined him.

    Of course, he loves me.

    So, there’s that.

  3. maggie katzen Says:

yeah, my parents golf together. not always, but it was at least once a week for a while.

  4. *sniffs*

    Hey! You’re serving me a day-old poat!

  5. Ca Rin Says:

    Sorry. I’m distracted today.

Plus, I didn’t watch the debates last night which is what everyone is talking about.

    Wasn’t Mitt AWESOME??? Squeeel

  6. I’d rather have him playing golf than engineering more disastrous programs for the country.

  7. Mitt gave one “exactly right” answer, which I talked about at Nice Deb’s. Bachmann made me cringe, which I talked about at Nice Deb’s.

My wife wanted to watch, because she’s liked what she’s heard from Santorum so far.

I giggled when she asked “Who was the little old guy?”

  8. Ca Rin Says:

I grok your point, Tony, but it’s just so dang insulting. He golfs while people are trying to fill their gas tank, or find a job, pay for food – let alone pay for a round of golf.

  9. Well Ca Rin, what should he be doing? I don’t know of anything that the president can do to fix those problems other than getting out of the way and letting the market handle it.

  10. He wouldn’t dare.

He couldn’t have the rabble making their own decisions. They might choose wrong…you know, have a cigarette after dinner, or let their children eat a cookie…and that would make M’Chel angry. You wouldn’t like her when she’s angry.

  11. Ca Rin Says:

I prefer my socialists to be a tad less hypocritical.

    You know, like Jimmy Carter.

He is the epitome of everything that’s wrong with socialism.

All he’s doing is campaigning, now, anyway.
