Missed this …

But then we’ve gotten used to Obama’s imperial retinue.

Obama arrived with 500 staff in tow, including 200 Secret Service agents, a team of six doctors, the White House chef and kitchen staff with the president’s own food and water.
And, according to the Evening Standard, he also came with “35 vehicles in all, four speech writers and 12 teleprompters.” For sure, our president is not going to be at a loss for words.
The press duly reported on Air Force One and all its bells and whistles but also on the presence of the presidential helicopter, Marine One, and a fleet of identical decoys to ferry him from Stansted airport to central London.

We’ve all got to scale back, except the president. He should carry on with his enormous presidential entourage and his state dinners and massive vacations at taxpayer’s expense. Speaking of which, we’ve got Michelle Obama preparing for a trip to Africa. Oh, wait. This isn’t a “trip.” It’s an “official visit”. And she’s taking her daughters and her mom with her. Because, nothing says “working trip” like taking your mom and children along.

So, what is this important work she’s going to be doing, so necessary now when we’re broke and no economic relief in sight?

She’s going to “continue her work encouraging young people around the word to become active in their countries.”

Besides youth leadership, Mrs. Obama will also focus on education, health and wellness.

Officials said the visit will highlight the important stake the U.S. has in the success of Africa’s many nations, as well as the historic ties between Americans and people who live in Africa. President Barack Obama’s late father was Kenyan.

Oh, well. Yes. Whatever it costs, THAT sounds worthy.
