Public sector pay is now better than private jobs. Public sector benefits are better. Public sector working conditions (except for the intense politically-correct bullshit) are better. It was suppose to be a sacrifice to work in the public sector – not any more.

But it’s the corporations who are ripping off “the people”, right AI?

  2. agiledog Says:

And just who is giving money to politicans?

Top political donors for last 20 years:

You have to get to # 18 before you reach one that even leans Republican. And # 7 through # 14 are all unions.

I think it is appalling that we have lost manufacturing jobs since 1980. Isn’t that the first year of tinkle down economics? Manufacturing jobs back then allowed high school graduates who joined the UAW and got hired by one of the big 3 automakers to make a great living. The outsourcing of manufacturing jobs is a tragedy.
I don’t think this link proves what you think it does. And, the title is inaccurate: the chart does not show public vs. private employees; it shows public vs. manufacturing jobs, not public vs. private. Unfortunately, there are probably twice as many private service jobs as manufacturing and those service jobs do not pay like manufacturing does or did. Furthermore, there are also a lot of private jobs other than manufacturing and service.

    And, the “outsourcing” happened why?

If you want to go back to the 1980, you need to be honest.

Many of the manufacturing jobs – take steel, for example – didn’t get “outsourced.” The companies went BANKRUPT.

Now. Why did they go bankrupt?

Why did GM -for example- in the 80’s do so terribly that it decimated Flint Michigan.

    Oooooohhh oooooooohhhh! I know!

I’ll take “the combination of stupid management tricks and a greedy inflexible union that was completely at odds with reality for $500, Alex.”

  6. Car in Says:

Oh, I’m sorry. You were so close. You left out “shoddy” product.

But we’ve got nice parting gifts …

  7. It was included in “stupid management tricks”…look at the subparagraph about clinging to the planned obsolescence businss model straight outta 1957.

  8. Car in Says:

I should have known you’d go all lawyer on me.

  9. Leonid Breshnev's Liver Says:

In my country, we kill all lawyers.

But then, no one stop us from doing stupid things, yes?
