Read it and weep

The American Thinker brings this little fact to light; in 2006, the number of Americans receiving food stamps was just over 20 million. Now? (you’d better sit down)

43.6 million.

. In fact, one of the under-reported stories of the past two years is that the number of Americans receiving food stamps has increased every single month under the Obama administration. Even with the recent decline of the unemployment rate from 10% to 9.4%, the number receiving food stamps has continued to increase.

Some may call such an increase in dependency heartbreaking.

The impact of food stamps, Section 8 housing subsidies, Medicaid, and other support programs has been to create a permanent welfare class which, in terms of skills and attitudes, is poorly equipped to return to work. Not only that, the children of welfare moms are nurtured in a mentality that perpetuates dependency from generation to generation. And liberal politicians are in no hurry to end this dependency since the system of welfare patronage serves their interests.

Obama calls them “his base.”

WE LOVE HIM, THAT’S WHY WE VOTED FOR HIM!

Don’t get me started on the permanent welfare class in northern Michigan.

I have to wonder why it wasn’t reported in that article that recipients increased every.single.month from that 2006 number until Bush left office, with a staggering 31 million. Thanks Bush, for fucking up the economy so badly that we may never be able to pull it out of the toilet.

Humn … what happened in 2006 … think think think …

What change in the power of the pursestrings occurred that year?

I know it will come to me.

I interviewed for a job in DC in 2006. I don’t think anyone else, got a new job. In fact I’m pretty sure that no one cracked the marble ceiling, or was the first ever something or other.

Please provide specifics as to how Bush, with a Democratically-controlled Congress, fucked up the economy. And Keith Olbermann quotes don’t count.

And please be sure to include in your response how Bush is responsible for the out-of-control spending that started once the Democrats took control of the House in 2006. You’ve heard of the House, right OC? They would be the ones who control the spending.

And please be sure to include in your response how Bush is responsible for the meltdown of the mortgage and banking industry caused by the idiotic Fannie/Freddie regulations put into place by Democrats (but you know that, right?)

    I’ll wait.

  7. Gee, what DID happen in 2006???

  8. Car in Says:

    It’s unknowable, Aggie.

And continued to increase every.single.month while Obama was in office, too. What was common during that time? The D-rats controlled Congress.

Oh, and let’s do the math: from 20.0 to 31.6 in 2 years = 11.6 Million divided by 24 months = .48 million/month for Bush. From 31.6 to 43.6 in 1 year, 11 months (last number was for Nov, not Dec) = .52 million/month for Obama. So you sure you want to continue with your thinking? Why is Obama forcing 40,000 more people a month onto food stamps than Bush did?

  10. Hotspur Says:

Obviously the article is totally racist.

  11. wiserbud Says:

    Still waiting, OC.

I guess the fact that it’s taking so long to answer my questions means that I can expect an intelligent, coherent and well-sourced reply?

    *snicker

I was told there would be no math on this blog.

Damn, this is gonna be one hell of a comprehensive and educational answer…….

I guess I better be prepared to put aside quite a bit of time to read OC’s response to my questions, as it seems she is taking her responsibility to provide a profoundly well-informed and unassailable defense for her earlier statements quite seriously.

    *snort

  15. Car in Says:

    Maybe she’s authoring a book?

  16. Hotspur Says:

Maybe she’s applying for food stamps.

  17. wiserbud Says:

Maybe she’s applying for food stamps.

Possibly. Didn’t she say something about mailing me her answers?

  18. wiserbud Says:

I gotta admit… I didn’t think OC knew enough words to take this long to write her responses to my simple questions.

I wonder if she can give us an executive summary of her work to date?

  19. wiserbud Says:

    nothing yet, huh?

OC must be using the ol’ hunt and peck method
