Crickets

Yesterday, I repeatedly attempted to get this article from LAST week to open. I was unable. Today, it works.

So, what’s in there? What was in there yesterday? Well, today:

Operation Rescue heralded the new year by posting their list of “abortion cases to watch in 2011.” I was curious about what cases could hold their attention, so I clicked over to OR’s site. In typically overheated rhetoric, the group breathlessly detailed the reasons why everyone from Planned Parenthood to a former colleague of Dr. Tiller should hold the antis’ attention for the next twelve months.

And who made the list? You got it: Kermit Gosnell.

Two ongoing investigations on the East Coast also made the list. In May 2010, a grand jury in Philadelphia was convened in response to the case of Dr. Kermit Gosnell. The previous November, a patient of Gosnell’s died; federal agents subsequently raided both Gosnell’s clinic and home, and Gosnell’s license was suspended by the state’s Board of Medicine, which alleged that an unlicensed clinic staffer was treating patients. The state Department of Health cited the clinic for 14 counts of violating state laws.

See, these women at “Feminists for Choice” are watching the watchers. Sneering.

Clearly, there are some serious allegations on this list. But what Operation Rescue seems to have forgotten is that an individual is innocent until proven guilty, and that each case is being investigated by professionals whose job it is to determine if crimes or violations were committed. With its inflammatory prose and casual use of hateful rhetoric, Operation Rescue all but bangs a gavel and hands down judgment on their website. It also lists the contact information of some investigators and attorneys, with exhortations to readers to contact them and apply “public pressure” – apparently, Operation Rescue just can’t trust that these men and women will be able to do their jobs otherwise.

Yes. Right. Exactly. We cannot trust these men and women to do their jobs. That is obvious. The investigators and attorney and whoever is supposed to oversee this stuff CANNOT BE TRUSTED. Michelle Malkin lists all those folks who looked the other way while this way going on:

● The Pennsylvania Department of Health knew of clinic violations dating back decades, but did nothing.

● The Pennsylvania Department of State was “repeatedly confronted with evidence about Gosnell” — including the clinic’s unclean, unsterile conditions, unlicensed workers, unsupervised sedation, underage abortion patients, and over-prescribing of pain pills with high resale value on the street — “and repeatedly chose to do nothing.”

● Philadelphia Department of Public Health officials who regularly visited Gosnell’s human-waste-clogged offices did nothing.

● Nearby hospital officials who treated some of the pregnant mothers who suffered grave complications from Gosnell’s butchery did nothing.

● An unnamed evaluator with the National Abortion Federation, the leading association of abortion providers that is supposed to uphold strict health and legal standards, determined that Gosnell’s chamber of horrors was “the worst abortion clinic she had ever inspected” — but did nothing.

Of course, Feminists for Life have not uttered one word about the Gosnell case as of yet.

And so what is their excuse ? Well, you see what Dr Gosnell was doing wasn’t abortions. He wasn’t an abortionist. According to Femiste this is about something else.

What Kermit Gosnell tells us about late-term abortion?

Absolutely nothing.

No, really. Contrary to what Great Moral Authority On Abortion William Saletan has to say about the matter, I think we’re all pretty well agreed that if the charges against Kermit Gosnell are true, then dude is a criminal and needs to go to jail. Killing a baby after it’s born and has taken breaths? Is not abortion. It should be, and is, a crime punishable by law. And Kermit Gosnell is being criminally prosecuted.

Of course, the women went to Dr Gosnell and paid him for abortion services … so is he also guilty of false advertising?

They’re unintentionally highlighting how atypical this is. The point is that this stuff is not legal under Roe v. Wade, and it is not “abortion”. Dr. Gosnell was arrested and charged with murder under applicable statutes.

And this:

This is what happens when you stigmatize late-term abortion so much that people who practice it get murdered by terrorists: there’s a lack of safe, legal options for women who need late-term abortions. People like Gosnell can take advantage of that lack, because they know these women have nowhere else to go.

If we would only provide abortions free and on every corner, we wouldn’t see this happen.

Check out this breakdown of the cost of Dr. Gosnell’s services. He was getting PAID. And feminists were supporting him.

Carin, isn’t it always about the money with these scum? Anyone who thinks these abortion “doctors” are doing it “for the women,” are truly the weak minded among us.

Doctors who hide behind their feminist cheerleaders (who allow this stuff to continue) are pathetic and cowardly.

Jeez, the story just gets better and better.

Legalization is supposed to make this procedure safe. Why is this happening, then? Guess it’s just too hard to do it, so we’ll let the government take care of it. Oh wait…

After years of observation, I’m starting to understand liberal logic. A man with mental problems goes on a shooting spree and it’s not about the murderer,it’s a “political move inspired by Palin’s hateful rhetoric” (ie. ‘it’s conservatives fault). A sadistic greedy “doctor” inflicts death and suffering on the newborn and women and it’s not about the abortion (or the feminists that worship it) it’s about dangerous pro-lifers (ie. it’s conservatives fault). At the same time the thought process is so simple, it also requires twisting your brain into a pretzel.

    *bangs head on wall*

BECAUSE IT’S MURDERING A TERM VIABLE BABY!! Called ‘a crime’. You can’t have safe and legal for something illegal and immoral and pure gut wrenching disgusting….’There’s a lack of safe, legal options for men who need sexual gratification by force or with toddlers…..or lack of safe legal options for man/beast love.”

    WTF?
