Mona Charon on the French Riots

Heh:

Democrats in the United States must be wishing that their French brothers would pipe down, at least until after November 2, because American voters may notice that everything the Democrats want for America is what France already has.

What the French have is what the progressives are driving us toward; a “Livable Wage”, an industrial policy that guides “investments” into favored industries, employment that is highly regulated (no more than 35 hours a week, and a month of paid vacation a year), health care is “free”, and taxes are high.

The result? Utter failure. They’re going broke.

The private sector cannot support the wants and wishes of the socialists. And, they become some ideologically separated from economic realities, that even the suggestion that they “give back” some of their goodies, is enough for them to bring the country to a standstill.

The French on streets are whiny, lazy, and feel entitled to a life that someone else pays (and works) for.

  1. You can imagine my shock when I found out the students in France have a union.

And in interviewing them, they had no idea of where their dole came from, save to say they were entitled to it, because they were studying for a profession.

  2. Car in Says:

    It wobbles the mind.

I wish I could find a transcript of what Krauthammer said about it the other night. It was good. Spot on.
