Politics reaches a new low

In Toledo Ohio.

Swastikas were found painted Tuesday on campaign signs around Toledo, Ohio, for Rich Iott, a former Nazi re-enactor.

What’s that? A NAZI re-enactor? How my. That’s horrible. Dude’s prolly a nazi.
Marcy Kaptur in the Toledo Blade:

“Just unbelievable. You have no idea how disturbing I find it,” Miss Kaptur said after the debate. “The SS were not soldiers. They were butchers. And they killed people and tortured people that I know personally.”
She said she doesn’t know anyone else who engages in Nazi military re-enactments, calling it, “totally atypical behavior.”
Asked if she thought Mr. Iott might be a Nazi sympathizer, Miss Kaptur said, “I don’t know him well enough to answer that question.”

Marcy Kaptur has served 14 terms in the US House of Representatives. In those 14 years she’s lead Toledo … well, no where. But, now she’s found her magic bullet in defeating Rich Iott. You see, he’s a Nazi. Or he pretended to be one.

Well, that’s not really the story. He dressed up as a Nazi for a historical reinaction. Which is illegal to do in Germany.

Asked whether his participation in a Nazi re-enactor’s group might not upset voters, particularly Jewish voters, Iott said he hoped it would not: “They have to take it in context. There’s reenactors out there who do everything. You couldn’t do Civil War re-enacting if somebody didn’t play the role of the Confederates. [This] is something that’s definitely way in the past. … [I hope voters] take it in context and see it for what it is, an interest in World War II history. And that’s strictly all.”

Rabbi Moshe Saks, of the Congregation B’nai Israel in Sylvania, Ohio, a suburb of Toledo that sits in the 9th district, disagreed. “Any kind of reenactment or glorification of Nazi Germany, to us, would be something unacceptable and certainly in poor taste, if not offensive,” he said. “I think the reaction here will be very negative. And not just among the Jewish community, but the broader community.”

If Naziism was an undeniable evil, than certainly slavery was as well. I demand RIGHT HERE AND NOW that we cease and desist with all Civil War reenactments.

He added that he has participated in re-enactments as a Civil War Union infantryman, a World War I dough boy and World War II American infantryman and paratrooper.

Yes, but I’m sure he liked dressing up as that Nazi BEST.

What you often hear is that the [Wiking] division was never formally accused of anything, but that’s kind of a dodge,” says Prof. Rob Citino, of the Military History Center at the University of North Texas, who examined the Wiking website. “The entire German war effort in the East was a racial crusade to rid the world of ‘subhumans,’ Slavs were going to be enslaved in numbers of tens of millions. And of course the multimillion Jewish population of Eastern Europe was going to be exterminated altogether. That’s what all these folks were doing in the East. It sends a shiver up my spine to think that people want to dress up and play SS on the weekend.”

So, what’s best is that we need to scrub these events from history. Reenactments are obviously a celebration. Facts be damned.

Facts like these :

As most of you are aware we act as referees for WWII reenactments at
Fort Custer, other locations and attend several public events. We have
been doing this for over four years and have NEVER seen or been
witness to any support, advancement, views, opinions, comments or any
political or social concepts or ideas which in any way condone any of the
WWII Axis ideals, attitudes or actions; and that INCLUDES the Wiking
Reenactment Group.

Any person or political group who believes there is some bizarre hidden
Nazi agenda by reenactors is not only ignorant of the facts but using false
representation to foster their own political ambition and beneath contempt.
Would these same accusers point a finger at Civil War Confederate
reenactors and say they are all racially prejudice?

Reenactors reflect every nation involved in WWII. We have seen not only
American and German reenactors, but British, Dutch, French, Polish,
Russian, Japanese, Italian and a host of others. To use an educational
hobby which provides a teaching tool for all Americans in some twisted
political game is not only omitting the true facts, but a blatant lie by
conversion of the truth.

Reenactors are historical representatives and educators, a well known
quote says, “Those who ignore the lessons of history are doomed to
repeat it.”

So, dressing up and playing a part is showing support for the motives and actions of the person(s) portrayed? Is that really what they are trying to claim? What about all the actors in Hollywood portraying “bad guys” in film? Are they in support of criminal activity?

Did this bint even think about what she was saying?
