It’s been a personal annoyance of mine – those stupid $10,000 signs – and now Hot Air and Michelle Malken both have posts up about ’em.

There’s even a sign in my little town.

Half the time I see one, there isn’t the smallest bit of work occurring. Just the sign. We’ve spent $20 million on those stupid signs.

[It’s] selling propaganda as a story. How else to explain signs popping up all over the landscape bragging., “Putting America back to work” while joblessness increases and employment levels continue to decline? Even in the most literal sense, road construction isn’t a steady job, especially not the projects funded through Porkulus. When the money runs out, so will the jobs. The only thing that will be left will be the signs.

And, apparently the sign putter-uppers are doing overtime, because they’re popping up everywhere as mid-term elections approach.

Rep. Schock argues that the signs are not a wise investment at all, but rather, a waste of money. He took to the House floor today to offer a bill, “to prevent funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 from being used for physical signage indicating that a project is funded by such Act, and for other purposes.”

Massachusetts Democrat James McGovern fired back, “This is the best we can get? Not putting up signs?” He continued, “How about paying for the tax cuts for the rich that my friends on the other side of the aisle passed? Hundreds of billions of dollars in debt that you put on the backs of my kids and my grandkids so that the wealthiest of the wealthy in this country can get a tax break.</blockquote

The wealthiest of the wealthy? My husband figured that our taxes are going to go up by about $5000 next year. And we're not the wealthiest of the wealthy.

Obama lied.
