FIAF – the Unprecedented Edition

Captain Kick Ass is running the most transparent White House EVA!

Here at the Caribou on Pennsylvania Avenue, and a few other nearby coffee shops, White House officials have met hundreds of times over the last 18 months with prominent K Street lobbyists — members of the same industry that President Obama has derided for what he calls its “outsized influence” in the capital.

Nothing to see here, move along. Obama promised to end Washington’s cozy relationship with lobbyists, and that’s what he intends to do. At least publicly. The reality is that he’s hired lobbyists to political positions, and his administrations is having unknown numbers of off the books meetings with ’em, all the while mouthing the platitudes that got him elected.

Remember this?

“I am in this race to tell the corporate lobbyists that their days of setting the agenda in Washington are over. I have done more than any other candidate in this race to take on lobbyists — and won. They have not funded my campaign, they will not run my White House, and they will not drown out the voices of the American people when I am president.”

Obama’s got a whole page devoted to the “ethics” his administration will follow. Funny, it doesn’t mention anywhere about meeting at coffee shops.

It’s amazing. You can almost hear the “wink, wink”s when you read Obama’s words.
