Obama – kicking ass, taking names

It’s almost like he’s the decider:

“I was down there a month ago, before most of these talking heads were even paying attention to the Gulf. A month ago, I was meeting with fisherman down there, standing in the rain. . .We talk to these folks because they potentially had the best answers, so I know whose ass to kick.”**

Remember when the talking heads were, like, TOTALLY ignoring the gulf oil spill, and Obama kept trying to get us to pay attention to it? He was all “Plug the damn hole!”

But, Obama’s got a plan for this clusterfuck. He’s gonna file charges. He’s not sure who, or what criminal law they broke, but believe you me he’s gonna hang this on someone.

It’s possible that criminal wrongdoing occurred, but the current approach — one that all but announces that criminal charges will be brought and then seeks to identify the crime and decide who will be designated as the criminal — undermines the criminal-justice system and Americans’ respect for the law. Whenever high-ranking law-enforcement officials select their targets in this manner, it evokes disturbing echoes of a statement Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz has attributed to the head of Stalin’s secret police, Lavrenti Beria: “Show me the man, and I’ll find you the crime.”

Alas, Obama’s feeling the heat and he has to deflect somehow. Apparently he’s going to plug the damn hole with federal prosecutors.

** Perhaps we can figger out when his speechwriters came up with that genius line.
