Flotilla Roundup

This is why the UN is a complete and utter joke:

The U.N. Security Council’s permanent members drafted proposed sanctions last month, a day after Turkey helped broker a deal with Iran intended to pre-empt sanctions. On Monday, Turkey again led the charge, at an emergency session of the Security Council to address the Mavi Marmar incident. Turkey drafted a resolution to present to the council that called Israel’s actions “an act of barbarism” and “aggression in the high seas,” and compared it to Somali piracy.

Yea, yea, I know. Israel is EVIL for blockading Gaza in the first place. But, Egypt …

Israel and Egypt began restricting the flow of goods into and out of Gaza in 2007, after Hamas seized control. Human-rights activists have long alleged Israel was keeping out crucial aid and basic materials, a claim Israel has denied. Israel and Egypt say they are preventing the smuggling of weapons and fighters.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak condemned “excessive use of force,” according to Egypt’s state news agency, but gave no indication Egypt would ease its Gaza blockade.

A bit of perspective about this “humanitarian” flotilla:

The so-called Gaza flotilla, comprising eight ships and roughly 800 participants, was not put together by peace-loving humanitarians primarily worried about relieving the suffering of Gaza residents. The people of Gaza already have access to food, medicine and other relief supplies provided by both Egypt and Israel. But both countries have sought to limit the importation of military equipment or dual-use materiel that can be employed for military purposes by Hamas. That terrorist organization controls the Gaza Strip and is unabashedly dedicated to Israel’s eradication. It is also closely linked with the Muslim Brotherhood, which is dedicated to the overthrow of secular dictator Hosni Mubarak and the creation of a theocratic regime in Egypt.

The flotilla was organized by the Turkish group Insani Yardim Vakfi (Humanitarian Relief Foundation), which bills itself as a philanthropic organization. But both the Danish Institute for International Studies and the Israeli Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center have documented copious links between Insani Yardim Vakfi and the global jihadist terrorist movements including al Qaeda. One of Insani Yardom Vakfi’s activists, Izza Shahin, was arrested by Israeli forces in the West Bank recently and expelled on charges of transferring tens of thousands of dollars to Hamas-controlled “charities.”

Other members of the flotilla came from such organizations as the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood. Al Jazeera quoted one woman aboard the flotilla saying “Right now we face one of two happy endings: either Martyrdom or reaching Gaza.”

Mona Charen spells out the real mission of the flotilla:

Yet another front, the most insidious, is comprised of the propaganda arm of the Palestinian movement. And this front thrives for only one reason — the complicity of the world press and the so-called “international community.”

It was the propaganda arm that staged the “Freedom Flotilla.” But there have been many previous productions: The propaganda arm was responsible for the photo-shopped images of damage to Lebanon during the 2006 war, the staged “death” of twelve-year-old Muhammad al-Durrah, the “massacre” at Jenin, and the “war crimes” in Gaza.

She’s also has a bunch of pesky “facts” that the useful idiots in the MSM won’t be reporting. Including this one:

When the family of Gilad Shalit, the Israeli soldier who was kidnapped during a cross-border raid by Hamas in 2006, offered to support the flotilla if, in exchange, they would agree to ask Hamas to permit international agencies to visit their son, they were rebuffed.

Where is the outrage regarding Shalit?

And one more bit, from David Pryce-Jones on the Palestinian Template of “cunning and imaginative aggression.”

The Gaza flotilla was another certain winner of the same kind. Either Israel let it through, in which case Hamas had scored a coup. In the tried and tested Palestinian style, the flotilla’s organizers made sure to have on board children, elderly people, and Europeans, whose possible injury would certainly make the Israelis look bad. They couldn’t have cared less about that. They anticipated correctly that Israel was certain to inspect the ships for possible smuggling of armaments and ferrying in gunmen, that casualties were likely, and that the world would condemn Israel for defending itself. Easy, once you have the template for it.

The Palestinian agenda is to create a lose/lose proposition for Israel, and the media plays happily along.

Boo Hiss, to WJR’s Paul W. Smith who allowed the sister of Huwaida Arraf to spin the anti-Israeli, Palestinian propaganda bullshit on the local airwaves. According to Hawaida’s sister, the ship carried humanitarian aid only, including “pencils” which the evil Israeli’s apparently won’t allow the Palestinian children, and that there were Nobel Peace Prize winners and one Holocaust surviver.

Update:

Black is White has the video. Peace loving my ars.

  1. I posted the video of those good, peace loving Palis at my site. I applaud the Israelis for their restraint. After the greeting from those peace loving humanitarians, I would have sent their “floatilla” to the bottom.
