Hope and Change under Obamacare

Memo to the left. Excessive taxes kill businesses and jobs. We’ve listened to your whining and declarations that “Teabaggers” hate children and poor folks, as illustrated by comments such as this:

You know why you’ve lost TPers? It’s because for all the hatred you mustered for the health care bill, for Obama, you demonstrated not the slightest care for the less fortunate among us. You only cared about your own pocketbook. You never offered any alternative plan for those who don’t have a health care safety net. The only ones your were looking out for were yourselves. It showed,

(h/t Darleen at PW.)

This is such a distortion of the views and motivations of the right, that it doesn’t even warrant response. Wanna know one of the REAL reasons we’re against Obamacare? Behold. Zoll, a maker of medical devices, is facing a new tax that will cost between $5 and $10 million dollars. The company’s profit is 9.5 million. Worst case scenario? All of their profit is taxed. No, that’s not the worst case. The worst case is that all their profits are taxed, the companies goes under or moves overseas, and all those folks lose their job.

That would be a devastating blow. Zoll employs about 1,800 people. Roughly 1,600 of them are in the United States, and about 650 of those are in Massachusetts. Once the new tax kicks in, that could all change. “We can’t run this company at a break-even or a negative rate,” says Packer, “so we will be forced to look at alternatives.”
The company’s first option is to pass the increase on to customers like hospitals and ambulance companies. That might or might not work, given that they are coming under increasing pressure to cut their own costs.

You know what “Teabaggers” hate? Government intrusion and policies that kill business and jobs. And when businesses go under and people lose their jobs, there are a hell of a lot more of those unfortunate types who need our help. I want to SHRINK the ranks of those who can’t do for themselves, by giving folks jobs. Actual reform would have increased competition, and made people MORE responsible for the care and the choices they could make. It would have also addressed tort reform and the outrageous expense and burden it puts on the medical profession. Finally, serious reform wouldn’t have included Federal Student loans in the deal. Honestly, WTF is up with that?

Let me be clear, Teabaggers do “hate” the left, but not true liberals. Dennis Prager outlines rather nicely the difference. (again, T/t, Darleen)

But, the left is no longer liberal. Today’s Democrats are European-styled Social Democrats. Progressives. Accept it. Admit it. “I” am liberal.

Today’s democrats are communists. They like to control people. They especially like other people’s hard earned money and they like to take it for themselves. They give not one shit about those ‘unfortunate’ because everything they do increases the number of unfortunates.

What “Tea Partiers” (not Teabaggers, Car in) hate is the equal outcome mindset/taxation/regulation. As an employer, I have to play unemplyment tax, to fund unemployment benefits. If I run my company right, and never lay anyone off, I have been forced to fund bad business choices by others, who invested foolishly, or expanded too soon, or made some other bad business choice, and now they have to lay off employees. And I (and indirectly, my employees and investors) have to pay for it.

Why, when an individual does it, it’s called a Ponzi scheme, but when the goverment does it, it’s called Social Security (or some other entitlement scam)?

I put it in quotes and used it because that is what “they” call us. I’m not calling myself that. I’m using it ironically.

“Experience should teach us to be most on our guard to protect liberty when the government’s purposes are beneficent….the greatest dangers to liberty lurk in insidious encroachment by men of zeal, well-meaning but without understanding.” (U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis)

good intentions, xbrad. They all have good intentions.

I wonder…do the [unacceptable slur] who are committing acts of violence against democratic legislators today have good intentions?

  8. xbradtc Says:

What acts of violence? Gimme a link.

  9. Pupster Says:

    Good intentions?

    I doubt it.

Committing acts of violence with good intentions = ur doin it rong.

The last I looked, people were still innocent until proven guilty. Rumor and news reports absent any proof are no better than rumor alone.

  11. xbradtc Says:

OC, if that is truly an act committed by someone as a “political” act, then it is indeed wrong. And you’ll see me express no sympathy if and when the perp is standing in front of a federal judge.

But right now, it is just supposition.

But I don’t recall you getting upset about Kenneth Gladney getting the shit kicked out of him by SEIU thugs (who also used racial epithets).

    First!

  13. Vmaximus Says:

But Xbrad, you have to remember Republicans are guilty by innuendo, Wrangle, Kennedy, Cold Cash Jeffeson, are being unfairly accused and keep their jobs until conviction. Then quietly swept under the rug.

  14. agiledog Says:

And, in your mind: “did not involve an immediate threat to occupants of the residence” = “committing acts of violence”? (That’s an equals sign, meaning these things are exactly same, in case you try some moral equivalence.) I just want to be clear on this. That may have been sabotage or vandalism, but go ahead and charge the culprit with (and only with) committing an act of violence, and see if you get a conviction.
